Hi all!

Anyone interested and free to be able to take pictures for a Floorball competition this coming Sunday, 3rd April?

Details are as follows:

Time and Date: 3rd April, 8.45am
Location: RP sports complex, Multi purpose hall. (Level 1, with aircon).
Ends at: 10.30am, estimated

Requirements for this event is to have a dSLR, and Prosumer Digital Cameras, since you'll need the speed to capture the speed of the event. dSLR users have priority. We're looking for 3 photographers to help cover the event!

Hey NYPPCians!

how have holidays been? Anyways, we are looking for ONE photographer to help out with D'Camp, an upcoming camp from the 31st March to 2nd April. The camp will be held in school, and it's attendees are potential student leaders.

Plus, it will be an overnight camp, so we require that photographer to be able to stay overnight throughout the camp itself. The photographer will join an already selected and volunteered group of 4 photographers that will also be taking photos for D'Camp.

Criteria for the photographer:
1. Owns a dSLR
2. Stay overnight throughout camp
3. Stay throughout 3 days.

How has everyone been???? Exams coming, so stress coming already right???? Don't worry, we have come out with a solution for you to de-stress...

We're organising a fun outing to Marina Barage! WOOHOO!

The difference between this outing from other outings, is that the main purpose isn't about taking pictures, it's gonna be more about bonding together and having fun. So, that means we'll be having an awesome time with games, running around, flying kites, makan like nobody's business, and de-stress. :D

Chingay Parade Singapore 2011 is coming soon and the People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM) is now recruiting performers for its very own Hip Hop dance contingent!

Bonding Youth, Celebrating Diversity of Life @ Chingay Parade Singapore 2011
Chingay Parade Singapore 2011 will be held on 11 and 12 February 2011 and will see a total of 6 performing segments, at the Pit Building.

Passionate Youth
PAYM will be forming a Hip Hop dance contingent titled ‘Passionate Youth’, comprising of 3,000 energetic youths for the grand finale segment for Chingay Parade Singapore 2011. These 3,000 youths will attempt to dance their way into the Guinness World Record and Singapore Book of Records and set the performing area ablaze with their heart-pumping Hip Hop dance moves!

SA Office are giving out free tickets to YOUTHPHORIA 2010!!!

It's a fun-filled day packed with events, and the event will be happening this Saturday, 30 October 2010, at Singapore Discovery Centre (SDC).

They will be chartering buses to SDC, so please be in the North Canteen by 10.15am. Bus leaves at 10.30am SHARP.

Each ticket is worth $50 which includes access to the games and also a 3D movie and 2D movie that can be redeemed even after the event.

You may wish to collect the tickets at Block E Level 4 Student Affairs Office today before 5pm.

So HURRY! They have 500 tickets to give away!!!

Thank you for replying your attendance on whether or not you will be attending the Handover Ceremony next Wednesday, we really appreciate the support. =)

However, our advisors, Mr Guru and Mr Jeffery Ong, have just updated us that only the committee will be present for the Handover Ceremony, and members will not be attending the ceremony. Hence, you all do not need to come to E315, at 3pm.

The Handover Ceremony will be the official installment of the new committee of NYPPC, 2010/2011. Chingay 2011 looking for Dancers!!

Hi NYPPCians,

the People Association's Youth Movement (PAYM) is looking for people who are interested to be part of a Hip Hop Dance Contingent that will comprise of a total of 3,000 youths to be part of next year's Chingay Parade!

PAYM will be forming a Hip Hop dance contingent titled ‘Passionate Youth’, which comprises of 3,000 youths for the finale segment of the Chingay Parade 2011 (11th and 12th Feb 2010). The dance contingent will attempt to dance their way into the Guinness World Record and Singapore Book of Records. So, if you wanna be part of a world record, here's your chance to make that happen!

Criteria for joining the contingent:

12 to 35 years old
Energetic and Enthusiastic
Passionate in Learning

Trainings will start in October, and they will be conducted on a weekly basis. Trainings are tentatively scheduled from 7.30 to 10pm on weekdays, and either 9am to 1.00pm or 2 to 6pm on weekends. Participants are required to attend the following training dates, as they are compulsory:

22nd Jan 2011: Full Dress Rehearsal
15th Jan 2011: Combined Rehearsal
10th Feb 2011: Dry Run
11th Feb 2011: Chingay Day 1
12th Feb 2011: Chingay Day 2

According to PAYM, you do not need a dance background to join the contingent. The trainings will help you become familiar with the moves. All they need are people who are interested and willing to learn. So, give it a shot! :D

Canon Photomarathon 2010

Wassup everyone!

The annual Canon Photomarathon will be held soon on 23rd October 2010. Some of our members from NYPPC will be going to take part in the competition, so if you're interested, join us! We could go as a group (or in small groups if there are many people) to tackle the themes. More brains is more power right?

What is a photomarathon?
Well, basically, its a photo competition where you'll have to submit 3 photos based on 3 themes, but... there's a catch. The themes will only be released on the day itself; one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening. So you'll have to be quick thinking and creative to get your perfect shot. No pre-planning, no taking your time, cos there's a time limit too.
So if you're spontaneous and like a good challenge, join us on the 23rd! OR, if you just want some fun, and like to take it easy, join us too! Just remember, its not about winning, its all about having a good time and learning.

Registration Fee:	SGD 10
Singapore's largest one-day photo competition returns for an 8th consecutive year on 23rd October 2010. Participants will once again compete in the Open and Student categories throughout the day, shooting to fulfill three pre-determined themes that will only be revealed on competition day. Besides standing a chance to the latest Canon cameras, two Best of Show winners will travel to Turkey for a 8-day photo clinic led by professional photographer Triston Yeo.

You'll have to register direct with Canon, and theres a $10 registration fee, but based on the past few years, you'll probably get a free shirt,a photo print coupon, and a drink.

Meeting Canceled and Club Tee matters

Hi NYPPCians!!!

just to let you all know, the meeting which was scheduled for this Friday will be postponed till either the last week of holidays, or during the 1st week of the new semester. We will update you all on the meeting via our Facebook and blog. Thanks for all your e-mails about your attendance for the meeting and your shirt sizes! It feels good that you all reply our e-mails. :D

Just a reminder to e-mail us your shirt sizes so that we can make the club tees. Just today, we were told by our club advisors that we are able to choose the following specifications for our club tees:

Material of the shirt
Polo tee or standard tee

As such, we will be creating a survey using SurveyMonkey, and would like you all to complete the survey for us! Your data will help us make better decisions!

Lastly, samples for the sizes of the shirts will also be given out at a later date. We might set up a session for our members to try out the samples in order to better select their shirt sizes. Look out for that!

Meeting and other important info

Hi NYPPCians!!!

We've got some very important information you need to know!!!

First, our club will be having a meeting this Friday (17/09) in school, room E307, at 6pm. We will be meeting up with our club advisors, Mr Guru and Mr Jeffery Ong, and will be discussing about the future of our club and other plans as well. Attendance for this meeting is compulsory, unless you have a valid reason.

The next thing we would like you to know is that... WE WILL BE DESIGNING OUR VERY OWN CLUB TEE (T-shirt)! How cool is that! As such, we will require you to e-mail us your T-Shirt size, so that your shirt won't be a super body-hugger and give a very tight hug, or your shirt won't be too loose, till you look like you're swimming in it. Sizes range from Small to Xtra Xtra Large. Details about the cost of the shirt will be given to you all at a later date. In the meantime, just send us your shirt size, for we are still in the planning stage.

Please e-mail us your attendance for this Friday's meeting and your T-Shirt size by Wednesday (15/09).

The Originals of G. R. Lambert Exhibition

The exhibition features a rare collection of original GR Lambert 19th century photographs, and historical picture postcards in the late 19th to mid 20th century. This exhibition features a rare collection of original GR Lambert 19th century photographs, and historical picture postcards in the late 19th to mid 20th century. This collection is donated by Mr Koh Seow Chuan, an avid and renowned collector in Singapore. Visitors can get a glimpse of the landscape and people of early Singapore through the eyes of GR Lambert, a famous German photographer who arrived in Singapore in 1867. He opened his photographic studio in 1877, and produced the first picture postcard of Singapore in 1897.

NDP Photo Competition

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY NYPPCians!!!!

Ok, I'm sure all of you are taking a break during National Day (ND), or maybe some of us are gonna go up to Marina Bay Sands' Skypark to take pics of the fireworks (which is quite a good idea, :p). Well, we've got good news for those who are taking pics of the ND!!

Worker's Party Youth Wing (WPYW) is organising a photography competition. The theme is "This is my Singapore", and its aims is to express the hopes, dreams, and aspirations from the country via photography.

Photo submission will be end on 15th August 2010, and those interested can e-mail their photos to mysingapore@wp.sg, and stand to win a chance to win the top prize of $150 cash.

Ok, what's it about... Basically, it's a photo contest, where you gotta upload a photo which follows the theme "Water for Life", together with an appropriate caption of not more than a 100 words.

Event : Fun Time Machine (telematch competition)

Date : 21st July 2010 (Wednesday)

Time : 3pm -7pm

Venue : NYP Sports Hall

Objective:

This tele-match is mainly to bond Singaporean & non-Singaporean, and to bond every clubs together!

Form a team of 6 (six) representing your CCA/academic clubs to participate in this exciting and challenging event. Each team must be mix-gender. You can bring a substitution before the event start if 1 of your teammates does not show up; if not, your group will be disqualified. Please wear sports attire to this event and bring admin card upon registration. If you are late after registration close, penalty will be given – deduction in event points/marks.

CCA points will be given to all participants and the winning teams stand to WIN ATTRACTIVE PRIZES. There will also be a bonus prize for 5 lucky winners (individual) in the bonus stage too.

how's everyone been???? I know some of you all have been waiting, even dying for this to come.... Guess what, IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! NYPPC Freshmen Orientation is finally here!!!

It's gonna be an event packed with fun, games, and of course... PHOTOS!!! There will also be hilarious videos, and sharing sessions by our seniors and members about the experiences they have gained from the Club, which one day may help YOU take great pictures!!!

Ok, I've said all that I can say already... Here are the details for the event:

Greetings from SAFRA Toa Payoh! It is SAFRA’s desire to present a well-equipped and user-friendly Club to all its members and guests. In order to serve its users better, SAFRA Toa Payoh will be undergoing re-development this year in June 2010, and is slated for completion in year 2012.
In conjunction with the redevelopment project for the new club, SAFRA Toa Payoh, in a joint effort with SAFRA Photo Club and with the sponsorship and support from CANON Singapore, is pleased to put in plan the SAFRA-CANON Photography Competition 2010. Alongside this Photography Competition, we have lined up a series of workshops relating to photography as well as the competition, all for the photography buff! 1) SPA Visioning Workshop - Transforming today's physiotherapy for tomorrow

This year’s Visioning Workshop is aimed to:

-Explore the various needs of the Singapore population as well as the Physiotherapy profession itself

-Explore the strategies to meet these needs.

-Outline the new challenges facing our profession, especially in terms of registration and recruitment.

For this event, we will be expecting senior physiotherapists, physiotherapists from all specializations and managers from various hospitals. (~50 attending) We will need a team of photographers to cover this event. As quoted by our higher-ups : as many as possible. According to the aims of the visioning workshop, we welcome whatever the photog team wants to capture through their cameras. No fixed type or style of photos is required.

Date : 10 & 11 April 2010, 8am-6pmVenue : NYP K and J block

2) Physiotherapy Year 1 Welcome Party

This is a physiotherapy initiated orientation for our new cohort!

Main aims are :

- Senior junior bonding

- Inspire them to stay on in the course

For this event, we need about 2 photographers. Around 150-200 people will be present if we counted properly. Again, the photos taken can be entirely up to the photogs as long as the objectives are met. Creativity rocks!

White Balance

Hi people!
Here is something I would like to share! Its a video about White Balance. I realised that some people take pictures without adjusting or checking their White Balance. Their pictures turned out to be too warm(most of the time I saw) or cool. But of course if you are on AUTO mode, you don't really need to care 'cause its AUTO.
So do check your white balance before and after shooting! :D

Hi people! Please check your email and reply! We only cater for maximum 10 people due to space constraint, but however those who miss this wed(18th Nov) session, there will be another one on the 25th! (just for yall) FIRST COME FIRST SERVE! :D

HDB Photography Competition

Photo Competition!!!

The HDB photography competition themed "24 Seven HeartlanD Beats" has been running for the past 3 months and the entry will close on 31 Oct 2009. The photography competition is open to all Citizens and Permanent Residents of Singaporeans which includes Open and Youth (Age 18 and below) categories.

Through this photography competition, we hope to achieve the following:

i) engage participation from residents in celebrating the achievements of our public housing programme;

ii) create an opportunity for residents to share through their lenses their experience of living in the HDB heartlands; and

iii) showcase the winning entries across Singapore at the Community Celebrations held between Mar 2010 to Jul 2010

Now that the camp is over, we have event for y'all to shoot and practice!
Details are stated below

Request of 2 or 3 photographers (lets make it 3)
Cca - Chinese Orchestra
Date - 3 oct 2009
Venue - Esplanade
Time - 4.30pm in school. (actual performance is 8pm, rehearsal is 6.30pm) * This part means that you guys will meet in school and a bus will send y'all there.

For those interested, please mail me your particulars by 27 Sept 2009
(NAME, ADMIN NO, SCHOOL, HANDPHONE NO.) *eg school: SBM, SIDM etc
First come first serve basis, prefer DSLR users.

Y'all are strongly encouraged to shoot such events, you will surely learn something. Don't limit yourself from learning. The more you shoot, the more confidence you will have. So allow yourself make that first step.

Few more udates for the upcoming camp..

Reporting time for the camp will be on the 9th September at Block E, SA FORUM
is @ 0900hrs. Please try not to be late. Thanks

Few more reminders. Please bring the things on the pack list provided long time ago.

Very important things to bring includes:
Camera with batteries and tripod.
Shoes - is a must. (We want everybody to be comfortable during our actvities)
Medication - if any
Thermometer - A requirement from the school
Lanyard - with admin card (VERY IMPORTANT)
Laptops - needed for editing pics

On top of everything that is all.
For those who have not submit the camp form and also the camp payment.
Please submit first thing on the first day of camp itself.

Best Buddy Forever Awards

The Health Promotion Board will be organising the Best Buddy Forever Awards as part of our World Mental Health Day celebration this year. This is an online contest for youths aged 13 to 25 years old to show their appreciation and gratitude towards their buddy/buddies who have helped them overcome challenges in their lives. We hope the contest which focuses on the theme of 'Friendship', would promote positive social network and encourage supportive relationships, which are both important parts of having a good mental health.

The two categories of the contest are as follow,
a) Video Category
b) Picture Category

To take part in this contest, the participants just need to:
a) Video Category:
Create a video of not longer than 3 minutes in duration, and/or

b) Picture Category:
Compose a picture of not larger than 1024 by 768 pixels in dimension, not more than 1.5 MB in file size.

They can log on to www.audiblehearts.sg/bbf from 13 August 2009 onwards and upload their submission with a short description of how their buddy/buddies have supported them and helped them overcome difficulties in their lives, and how they want to thank them.

Each participant may submit up to a maximum of 2 entries - one for each category. The submission periodis from 13 August to 4 September 2009, 2359 hrs

Winners for each category will be determined by the number of online votes their entries received. Entries with the most online votes win. The voting period is from 13 August to 8 September 2009, 2359 hrs.

The winners stand a chance to win the following prizes,
a) Video Category
1st Prize: $800 cash
2nd Prize: $600 cash
3rd Prize: $500 cash
5 x Consolation Prizes: $200 cash each

b) Picture Category
1st Prize: $1000 cash
2nd Prize: $800 cash
3rd Prize: $600 cash
5 x Consolation Prizes: $200 cash each
